Job Overview:
The University of Venda (UNIVEN) Internship is offering its Programs for 2024 Opportunities, designed to provide students and recent graduates with valuable hands-on experience in various academic and administrative functions. Position Purpose:
The UNIVEN Internship Program aims to support the university’s operational and academic goals while offering interns practical experience in an academic setting. The program is designed to develop interns’ professional skills, broaden their understanding of higher education administration, and prepare them for future careers in academia or related fields.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, file management, and scheduling of meetings and events.
- Support academic departments with tasks related to course coordination, student services, and research activities.
- Participate in the development and execution of university events, including seminars, workshops, and outreach programs.
- Provide support for research projects by collecting data, conducting literature reviews, and assisting with report preparation.
- Engage in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving university processes and services.
- Provide general assistance to faculty and staff as required, including handling correspondence and managing communication channels.
- Participate in training sessions to gain insights into university operations and academic administration.
Education:
- Current students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance with a demonstrated interest in higher education and academic administration.
Experience:
- No prior work experience is required.
- Relevant experience through academic projects, internships, or volunteer work in administrative or educational roles will be considered advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with university management systems.
- Basic understanding of academic and administrative processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning and contributing to tasks.
