Job Overview

Position Purpose
The purpose of the TB HIV Care Internship Program is to provide students and recent graduates with practical exposure to the field of public health, specifically in the areas of TB and HIV care. Interns will support various health programs, learn about disease management, and contribute to the organization’s mission of improving health outcomes in communities across South Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation and management of TB and HIV programs, including patient education and support services.
- Support data collection and analysis related to program performance and patient outcomes.
- Participate in community outreach activities, including health education workshops and awareness campaigns.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and handling communications.
- Collaborate with team members on special projects and initiatives aimed at improving health services.
- Ensure adherence to TB HIV Care’s policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognized tertiary institution, pursuing a degree in Public Health, Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, or a related field.
Experience
- Prior experience or internships in a healthcare or community service environment is beneficial but not required.
- Demonstrated academic performance related to the internship position.
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of public health issues, particularly TB and HIV/AIDS.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to community health initiatives.
