Job Description:
The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Wind Industry Internship Programme (WIIP). This initiative aims to support South Africa’s transition to a low-carbon economy, aligning with the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET IP) and the South African Renewable Energy Master Plan (SAREM). As part of this mission, SAWEA is offering a fantastic opportunity for young graduates to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly expanding wind energy sector.
Through this programme, 30 interns will be placed across SAWEA member organisations, where they will benefit from a structured, 8-month practical experience. Interns will have the opportunity to build valuable skills, contribute to South Africa’s renewable energy goals, and pave the way for future employment within the wind energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain practical experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly wind energy.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of renewable energy projects.
- Assist in conducting research, data collection, and analysis on energy systems.
- Support the coordination and management of wind energy projects and initiatives.
- Participate in industry events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
- Contribute to reports, presentations, and communications related to wind energy developments.
- Provide administrative and technical support to project teams across different departments.
Qualifications:
The programme is open to young South Africans with qualifications in the following or related fields:

Experience:
