The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is excited to announce its Internship Programs for 2024. Position Purpose:
The purpose of the SASSA Internship Program is to provide hands-on experience and professional development for young talent interested in social security and public administration. Interns will support SASSA’s mission to deliver social assistance effectively and efficiently, while gaining valuable insights into public sector operations and developing skills relevant to their career goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with administrative tasks related to social assistance programs, including data entry and record management.
- Support the processing of social grant applications and related documentation.
- Participate in the analysis and reporting of data to support program evaluation and improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of communication and outreach initiatives.
- Attend meetings and provide input on project discussions and planning.
- Assist with public inquiries and customer service, ensuring accurate and timely responses.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and internship coordinators.
Education:
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Public Administration, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A strong academic record with relevant coursework in public administration or social policy.
Experience:
- Previous internship or work experience in public administration or social services is advantageous but not required.
- Relevant academic projects or volunteer work related to social security or community services are beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
