Job Overview:
Pikitup, Internship Johannesburg’s premier waste management company, is offering a comprehensive internship program for 2024/2025. This program is designed to provide recent graduates with practical experience in the waste management and environmental services sector. Interns will gain exposure to various aspects of the organization, including operations, planning, and community engagement.
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this internship is to offer hands-on experience to graduates interested in waste management, environmental sustainability, and urban services. Interns will support Pikitup’s operations and initiatives, contributing to the effective management of waste and enhancing their professional skills in a real-world setting.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination and execution of waste management projects and initiatives.
- Support the collection and analysis of data related to waste management and recycling programs.
- Participate in planning and implementation of community outreach and education programs.
- Provide administrative support, including preparing reports, maintaining records, and data entry.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure efficient operations and service delivery.
- Contribute to environmental impact assessments and sustainability efforts.
- Engage in site visits and inspections to monitor compliance with waste management standards.
Education:
- Recently graduated or currently completing a degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related fields.
- Minimum academic requirement: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required, but any relevant internships, academic projects, or volunteer work in environmental or waste management will be considered advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of waste management practices and environmental sustainability is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
