Job Description:
The North West Department of Health is offering multiple internship opportunities for students and graduates across various districts in the province. These internships aim to provide hands-on experience and professional growth in diverse fields such as Human Resources, Financial Management, Information Technology, and more. The internships are available in several districts, including Bojanala, Ngaka Modiri Molema, Dr Kenneth Kaunda, and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati. The program is specifically designed for young, unemployed South Africans who are eager to kick-start their careers in public service.
Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, contributing to the daily operations of your assigned department. Your responsibilities may include assisting with administrative tasks, supporting various projects, data management, and contributing to the efficiency of the office. Depending on your field of study, you may also be involved in specific tasks related to Human Resources, Financial Management, Information Technology, Logistics, or Healthcare.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following educational requirements based on their chosen internship program:
- Student Interns:
Must have an N6 Certificate in one of the following fields:- Human Resource Management
- Public Management
- Public Administration
- Management Assistant
- Business Management
- General Management
- Graduate Interns:
Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or National Diploma in one of the following fields:- Human Resource Management/Development
- Computer Science
- Information Systems (BCom)
- Financial Management/Accounting/Auditing/Commerce
- Office Management and Technology
- Logistics Management / Transport Economics
- Information Technology (with A+ and N+ Certifications)
- Statistics / Information Management
- Public Management/Administration
- Hospitality Management
- Communication / Journalism / Media Studies / Visual Arts / Graphic Design
- Labour Relations / Labour Law
- Security Management
- Records Management / Information Science / Archives and Records Management
- Pharmacy Internship:
Must hold or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. Final-year students must attach their June 2024 academic records. - Psychologist Internship:
Must be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and be registered as a Student/Intern Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Shortlisted candidates will need to provide proof of HPCSA registration.
Experience:
These internship opportunities are open to unemployed youth with no prior experience required. Candidates who have previously participated in any Government Department Internship Program will not be considered.
Skills:
Successful candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability to fast-paced working conditions. Specific skills related to the chosen field of study will be advantageous.
Job Benefits:
Interns will receive a monthly stipend based on the duration of their internship.
- Student Interns will receive R6,406.75 per month for an 18-month contract.
- Graduate Interns will receive R7,562.50 per month for a 24-month contract.
- Pharmacist Interns will earn an annual package of R417,276.00 (all-inclusive).
- Psychologist Interns will earn an annual package of R675,450.00 (all-inclusive).
