Job Overview
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) Internship is offering exciting internship opportunities for 2024. Position Purpose
The purpose of the NERSA Internship Program is to provide graduates with hands-on experience in energy regulation and policy-making. Interns will support various departments within NERSA, gaining insights into the regulatory processes that govern the energy industry and contributing to the development and implementation of energy policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis and evaluation of energy regulation and policy documents.
- Support the monitoring and assessment of compliance with energy regulations and standards.
- Contribute to research projects on energy policy, market trends, and regulatory impacts.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support to various departments, including data entry, document management, and scheduling.
- Participate in meetings and workshops, offering insights and ideas to improve regulatory processes and outcomes.
- Engage in the development of communication materials to raise awareness of NERSA’s regulatory activities.
- Support the coordination of stakeholder engagement activities and public consultations.
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Economics, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance from a recognized institution.
Experience
- No prior work experience is required, but previous internships or project experience in energy, regulation, or public policy will be an advantage.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and regulatory documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Understanding of energy regulation and policy issues is advantageous.
- Proactive approach to tasks and problem-solving.
