Position Purpose
The purpose of the Market Theatre Foundation Internship Program is to provide students with practical experience and exposure to the performing arts industry. The program aims to develop future talent by equipping interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career in the arts. Interns will gain valuable insights into the operations of a leading theatre foundation and contribute to various projects and productions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of theatre productions and events
- Support administrative functions, including scheduling, communications, and record-keeping
- Participate in marketing and outreach activities to promote events and programs
- Assist with the technical aspects of theatre production, such as lighting, sound, and set design
- Collaborate with team members on various projects, providing creative input and support
- Conduct research on arts and cultural trends to inform programming and strategy
- Help manage and maintain theatre facilities and equipment
- Attend workshops, rehearsals, and performances as required
Education
- Current students or recent graduates from accredited universities or colleges
- Relevant qualifications or studies in Performing Arts, Theatre Studies, Arts Management, Marketing, Communications, or related fields
Experience
- No prior work experience is required; however, any previous involvement in theatre, arts, or cultural projects will be advantageous
- Experience in extracurricular activities related to performing arts or event management is beneficial
Skills
- Strong passion for the performing arts and cultural development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of theatre production processes is a plus
