Job Overview
Legal Aid South Africa is offering a structured internship program for recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in legal aid and public service. Position Purpose
The Legal Aid Internship is designed to provide graduates with practical legal experience and insights into the operations of Legal Aid South Africa. Interns will work closely with experienced attorneys and legal professionals to support the delivery of legal services to underserved communities.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including affidavits, motions, and court pleadings.

- Participate in client interviews and assist in the provision of legal advice under supervision.
- Attend court proceedings and legal consultations to gain insight into courtroom dynamics and legal strategies.

- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and maintaining records.
Education Requirements
- A completed undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) or a related field.
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a postgraduate qualification in Law is advantageous but not required.
Experience Requirements
- No prior legal work experience is necessary, though any relevant internships or work experience in legal or advocacy settings will be considered a plus.
Skills Requirements
- Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
