Job Overview:
INTERPOL is offering internship opportunities for 2024 to provide young professionals and recent graduates with the chance to gain valuable experience working in an international police organization. Interns will contribute to INTERPOL’s mission of fighting transnational crime, assisting with operations, research, and administrative tasks across different departments at the General Secretariat in Lyon, France, or other regional offices.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of the internship program is to give interns the opportunity to learn about INTERPOL’s operations and enhance their skills in law enforcement, international cooperation, and criminal justice. Interns will support various projects that align with INTERPOL’s global objectives, such as combating terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, and drug smuggling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in research, data collection, and analysis on international crime trends.
- Support INTERPOL’s crime databases by reviewing and updating data.
- Contribute to the development of international law enforcement strategies.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and operational documents.
- Participate in the organization of international meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
- Provide general administrative support to specific departments, including legal, criminal analysis, cybercrime, and others.
- Attend and take notes in meetings, workshops, and briefings.
- Collaborate with INTERPOL teams on special projects related to law enforcement and criminal justice.
Education Requirements:
- A relevant undergraduate or graduate degree in fields such as Law, Criminal Justice, International Relations, Political Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Current students or recent graduates (within one year) from a recognized institution are eligible to apply.
Experience Requirements:
- No prior professional experience is required, but any internships or volunteer work in law enforcement, international organizations, or legal environments will be an advantage.
- Research or project experience related to international security, law enforcement, or criminal justice is beneficial.
Skills Requirements:
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English (working knowledge of French or any other INTERPOL official language is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to a multicultural work environment.
- Basic computer skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
