Position Purpose:

The purpose of this internship is to support graduate students in applying their academic knowledge to real-world challenges related to water management and sustainability. Interns will work closely with IWMI’s research teams to assist in various projects, gain hands-on experience in the field, and develop skills that are crucial for a career in water management and environmental science.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects related to water management, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
  • Conduct field surveys, data collection, and data analysis to support ongoing research efforts.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing research findings and project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for water conservation and management.
  • Participate in workshops, meetings, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in water management and research methodologies.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including organizing project files and coordinating logistics for fieldwork.

Education:

  • Must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate program (Master’s or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with relevant coursework in water management, environmental science, or related disciplines.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in research, fieldwork, or water management is advantageous but not required.
  • Demonstrated interest in water management and sustainable development.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with statistical software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and contributing to research projects.
