Job Overview:
The Institute for Development Management (IDM) Internship is seeking motivated and enthusiastic graduate students to join our internship program for the 2024/2025 academic year. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of development management, engage in meaningful projects, and contribute to the mission of IDM. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals and participate in a variety of activities that will help them build their skills and enhance their career prospects.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this internship is to provide graduate students with hands-on experience in development management and related fields. Interns will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges, develop professional skills, and contribute to projects that have a positive impact on communities and organizations. This internship aims to support the professional development of graduate students and prepare them for successful careers in development management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of development projects and initiatives.
- Conduct research and data analysis to support project development and decision-making.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation related to ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with team members on various tasks, including project management, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to gain insight into IDM’s operations and strategies.
- Provide administrative support as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to enhance IDM’s impact and effectiveness.
Education:
- Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Development Management, Public Administration, International Development, or a related field.
- Strong academic record with a focus on relevant coursework and research.
Experience:
- Prior experience in development management, project management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated interest in development issues, public administration, or community development.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
