Position Purpose
The HSRC Internship is designed to foster new talent in social research, data analysis, and policy evaluation. Interns will collaborate with experienced researchers on impactful projects that address critical social challenges facing South Africa and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of research studies across various social science disciplines.
- Support data collection, analysis, and interpretation using statistical software.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and research briefs for stakeholders.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings to inform ongoing projects.
- Participate in meetings and workshops to discuss project progress and findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and rigor in research outputs.
Education
- Recent graduates or final-year students pursuing a degree in Social Sciences, Research Methodology, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous internships or volunteer experience in research, data analysis, or social science is preferred but not required.
Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A passion for social research and community development.
