Job Description
Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is offering internship opportunities for Graduates, Diplomats, and students requiring P1/P2 experiential learning to complete their qualifications. These positions are available across various operations and disciplines for the year 2025.
Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to one of the following operations and disciplines, where they will gain hands-on experience and exposure to their field of study:
- DornKoop Operation Interns:
- Mining Engineering, Rock Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, Human Resources, Finance, Community Development Studies, Communications, Social Science with Psychology.
- Joel Operation Interns:
- Mining Engineering, Mine Survey/Mine Planner, Human Resources, Finance.
- Kalgold Operation Interns:
- Analytical Chemist, Geology.
- Moab Khotsong Operation Interns:
- Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy, Ventilation, Occupational Hygiene, Human Resources, Finance.
- Mponeng Operation Interns:
- Mining Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Rock Engineering, Metallurgy, Environmental Science, Occupational Hygiene, Health and Safety, Finance, Human Resources.
- Tshepong Operation Interns:
- Mining Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Rock Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, Finance, Human Resources.
- Target Operation Interns:
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mine Survey, Finance, Human Resources.
P1/P2 Experiential / Work Integrated Learning:
Students requiring P1/P2 experiential learning can apply for the following fields:
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (DornKoop or Target Operations)
- Metallurgy (DornKoop Operation)
- Mining Engineering (Mponeng Operation)
Qualifications
- Applicants must have a National Diploma or Degree in one of the relevant fields mentioned above.
- For P1/P2 experiential learning, students must provide a recent letter from their institution indicating the need for such exposure.
Experience
- Internship applicants must have completed their qualifications in the respective fields.
- P1/P2 applicants should be students currently enrolled and needing practical work experience to complete their studies.
Skills
- Strong theoretical understanding of the respective discipline.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and learn quickly.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and environmental practices.

Selection Criteria:
- Open to South African citizens only under the age of 35.
- Applicants must be from the following districts:
- Free State: Lejweleputswa, Matjhabeng, Masilonyana.
- North West: Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Ratlou, Moqhaka.
- Gauteng: City of Johannesburg, Merafong City, West Rand.
- Only candidates with a full tertiary qualification obtained from an accredited South African university or college are eligible to apply.
- Applicants for internships must not have previously benefited from a similar program.
- Applicants for P1/P2 experiential learning must provide the required institutional letter confirming the need for such experience.
