The Department of Environmental Affairs is pleased to announce internship positions for the year 2024. Position Purpose
The purpose of the internship program is to provide interns with hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental management and policy. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, participating in projects and initiatives that support the Department’s mission to promote a sustainable and healthy environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of environmental policies and programs.
- Conduct research and data analysis on environmental issues and trends.
- Support the planning and coordination of departmental events and public awareness campaigns.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation related to environmental projects.
- Participate in fieldwork, site inspections, and environmental impact assessments.
- Engage with community stakeholders and assist in outreach activities.
- Perform administrative tasks and support the daily operations of the department.
Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s or master’s program in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance in relevant courses.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in environmental projects, research, or public policy is advantageous but not required.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental protection and sustainability.
Skills Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
