Job Description

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), through its Transport Department, is offering a Finance Internship Programme for suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. This internship will last for a period not exceeding 18 months, providing valuable work experience in the finance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring that cash sales processed at Rea Vaya stations are accurately accounted for.
  • Support the revenue officer in proper banking of cash and accounting for all bank transactions.
  • Aid in the timely reporting of financial information.
  • Help manage inventory in compliance with City policies and regulations.
  • Contribute to compiling audit files for internal review.

Qualifications

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Higher Education: National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or higher) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience

  • No prior work experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for recent graduates looking to enter the finance field.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy in arithmetic and calculations.
  • Good analytical skills for financial assessments.
  • Familiarity with relevant GRAP standards and knowledge of the MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act).
