Job Overview
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) Internship offers rewarding internship opportunities for passionate individuals seeking to gain valuable experience in the field of labour law and dispute resolution. Position Purpose
The CCMA Internship Programme is designed to develop future labour specialists by providing practical training and exposure to the inner workings of the CCMA. Interns will work alongside experienced staff, assisting with various aspects of the CCMA’s core functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist CCMA commissioners and facilitators in preparing for conciliation and arbitration cases.
- Conduct research on relevant labour law cases and legislation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CCMA case files and databases.
- Draft correspondence and reports related to CCMA activities.
- Observe and participate in conciliation and arbitration hearings (where permissible).
Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within the past year) of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree program (e.g., Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations).
Experience Requirements
- No prior experience is necessary, but a strong academic record and a keen interest in labour law are preferred.
Skills Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new software programs.
