Job Description

The African Development Bank (AfDB) offers an internship program designed to provide students with hands-on professional experience in a global development institution. This program allows interns to gain practical knowledge and skills while contributing to the Bank’s mission of promoting sustainable development across Africa. Responsibilities

Interns will:

  • Gain practical experience in their chosen field through project-based work and hands-on assignments.
  • Contribute to research, analysis, and data collection for various Bank departments and initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents supporting the Bank’s operations.
  • Collaborate with senior professionals and work alongside experienced staff in day-to-day tasks.
  • Participate in virtual or in-person meetings, workshops, and other learning events.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the internship program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled in a master’s degree program or have completed one within the last year, in a recognized institution.
  • Must be between the age of 18 and 30 at the time of application.
  • Be a national of one of the African Development Bank’s member countries.
  • Must have a letter from their educational institution confirming enrollment or a copy of their degree.
  • Be fluent in at least one of the Bank’s working languages (English or French).

Experience

  • Applicants must have no prior work experience in the field of study or limited work experience related to the internship role.
  • Experience in academic research, data analysis, or project management in any of the listed fields is advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English or French.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
